Smart Conversion Engine

Odify’s cornerstone is the conversion engine written in Java. The Java technology allows us use to integrate the conversion services into well proven and mature software environments such as application and web containers, as well as exposing the aggregated conversion capabilities to different interfaces like WebServices, EJB, RMI or commandline. That way, existing software systems can interface with the engine and use the conversion services without the need to know about specific conversion details.

The engine provides a flexible mechanism to add and configure new conversions. Thus, adding a customer specific conversion or doing a highly customized conversion is possible. Also the embedding of other commercial file converters is possible. Moreover, the engine is fully configurable in order to adapt to the requirements of the choosen usecase.

OpenFolder

The OpenFolder technology is a server that provides the filetype conversion on the intranets filesystem. Imagine you want to send your spreadsheet to your customer as PDF. The ususal approach is to use a client based software to realize this task (like the commercial Adobe© software packages). Why not omit the extra tasks (and money for each host) needed to accomplish the PDF generation? OpenFolder gives you the ability to just select the already (in the background) converted pdf from the filesystem. No special actions, software installations or tasks needed on the client side!

Web 2.0 Service Consulting

The web-tier in Odify is done with Ruby on Rails. The design of Ruby on Rails is perfectly suited for the developement of AJAX applications. Moreover, Ruby on Rails’ webservice support allows a fast developement of the web-tier while still using the advantages of Java technologies in the background.
